How pimples develop?
Blockages of sebum, fatty acids and bacteria in the pores cause inflammation in the skin. There are red bumps, pimples and subcutaneous inflammations. The advent of acne can be influenced by, among other things, hormonal changes, hereditary predisposition, medicines, friction (eg wearing a helmet or shawls), use of the wrong cosmetics products. Acne usually occurs in places where more active sebaceous glands are present, eg face (nose and chin), back and décolleté. The sebaceous glands produce sebum to keep the skin supple and protect against external influences and to prevent moisture loss. Sebaceous glands develop during puberty. Due to an increase in the production of sebum, the pores clog and inadvertently become blackheads. Bacteria convert the sebum into fatty acids. As a result of the blockage, pressure is released into the pore and rips open, causing the sebum and bacteria to enter the skin. This is the causes an inflammation (pimples).
Types of acne
The most common acne forms are:
Baby acne, acne infantum - babies with small acne pimples in the face get under the influence of hormones. This will disappear automatically.
Juvenile pimples, acne vulgaris - pimples due to increased sebum production under the influence of hormonal changes.
Bare sebaceous glands and red, painful pimples, acne conglobata: is common in male men, on the back, shoulders and chest. Characteristic of red, painful bumps and abscesses. Can cause scarring after recovery.
Violent acute acne, acne fulminans - looks like acne conglobata, but this can make someone feel very sick.
Chronic inflammation of the hair follicles, acne ectopica (hidradenitis suppurativa): inflammation often in the groin and armpits. Occurs often after puberty, especially in smokers and overweight.
